Dave the Diver

Played On: PC via Steam

I’ve been exploring a lot of indie games to play the past few months & thanks to Steam’s Next Fest, I discovered some amazing new game demos, which I’ll definitely play once they are released officially. And hence, I got to know about Dave the Diver!

(You can check out our Steam Next Fest post here: Click ME)

Dave the Diver is a casual, single-player adventure RPG featuring deep-sea exploration and fishing during the day and sushi restaurant management at night. I mean, this is what we all want to do, right? This is a type of game you can play after an exhausting day and you would still enjoy it.

The 2D pixelated art style is very appealing and the minimalistic & chill soundtrack of the game just hits the right spot for me. From the coral reefs to the sunken shipwrecks, every scene feels like a work of art. It's a visual feast for the eyes, and you can't help but appreciate the beauty of the underwater world as you explore.

Here’s how the game works; you control Dave, a daring diver exploring the deep blue sea for epic treasures. & catch fish, of course. These caught fish will be then used and sold at Bancho’s Sushi Restaurant at night. There are a lot of recipes you can choose and make, each unique from the others as some dishes require special fish/ingredients.

The controls are smooth and responsive, making it easy to navigate through the vibrant and captivating underwater world. From dodging dangerous sea creatures to solving tricky puzzles, the game keeps you on your toes and captivates you from start to finish.

As for the soundtrack, the tranquil underwater music sets the perfect ambience for your deep-sea exploration, and the sound effects are immersive.

TSHC SCORE: 9/10

CONCLUSION:

Dave the Diver is an exceptional game as it combines addictive gameplay, stunning graphics, and a captivating underwater world that will keep you hooked for hours. The only thing lacking, for me, is a more extensive storyline. But, don't let that stop you from diving in and experiencing the thrilling adventure that this game has to offer!

Available only on PC as of now. Will be coming to Nintendo Switch soon!
