Juror #2 (2024)

I had such a great time watching Juror#2. Clint Eastwood’s latest film dives deep into some heavy moral questions while keeping things grounded in a gripping courtroom drama. The plot; a juror realizing he might have been involved in the crime he’s supposed to help decide on, is one of the most fascinating setups I’ve seen in a while. The way the story unfolded kept me hooked, and it was told in such an interesting way that I couldn’t look away.

Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette absolutely blew me away with their performances. Hoult brought so much subtlety to his role as Justin Kemp, making me feel every bit of his guilt, anxiety, and struggle. Collette, as the sharp and ambitious prosecutor, was just as brilliant, balancing her determination with these great moments of vulnerability. Their performances really anchored the film and made it feel so real, which I think is why I stayed so invested in their characters.

The editing was another highlight for me. It kept the story moving at just the right pace, especially during the courtroom scenes where the tension really builds. But what surprised me the most was the score, which was absolutely fantastic. It added so much emotion without ever overpowering the scenes. I still find myself thinking about how it sets the mood perfectly throughout the film.

That said, not everything was perfect. Some of the side characters felt a little too one-dimensional, like they were pulled straight from a courtroom drama playbook. There were also a few moments where the story stretched believability a bit, and the middle section dragged here and there. But honestly, those things didn’t bother me too much because the overall experience was still so engaging.

Smash Hit Score: 3.5/5

By the time the film wrapped up, I was left reflecting on its big questions about justice, guilt, and redemption. The ending was understated but powerful, and it stayed with me long after I left the theater. Juror#2 might not be a perfect film, but with its gripping story, incredible performances, and memorable score, it’s definitely worth checking out.
