Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)

"Who you gonna call?" Definitely not Ghostbusters this time.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire feels like catching up with old friends at a reunion, but the party gets a bit chaotic with all the new faces and ideas thrown into the mix. While it's initially exciting to revisit familiar characters and iconic locations from the Ghostbusters universe, the movie struggles to strike a balance between nostalgia and innovation. The result is a convoluted plot with numerous subplots vying for attention, making it easy to lose track of who's doing what.

Despite its efforts at humour, some jokes fall flat, leaving me wishing for more genuine laughs. While there are moments of excitement and nostalgia that will please die-hard fans, the film's disjointed storyline hampers its overall impact. The action scenes are entertaining, and there are plenty of nods to the original movies, but they're not enough to carry the weight of the film's shortcomings.

Although this film has its moments, it ultimately fails to live up to its potential. The subplot involving a young Ghostbuster and a ghost feels awkward and unnecessary, detracting from the overall experience. While it's worth a watch for fans of the franchise, it falls short of recapturing the magic of the original films and delivering a truly memorable addition to the Ghostbusters saga.

TSHC Score: 4.5/10

Overall, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is a missed opportunity. With too much going on and not enough focus, it struggles to find its footing and leaves us wanting more. While it's fun to revisit the Ghostbusters universe, this installment fails to leave a lasting impression.
